I pulled this article out and brushed off the dust as a wonderful example of a great NZ battler, and an inspiration to those of you who strongly believe in yourself and the authenticity of the legal principle you wish to present to the Judicial system in NZ for consideration in your favour.
Bill Cox is one of those guys who did just that – both for himself and others. Acting as an expert witness in the Glen Crayfar jury trial vs Environment Waikato, Bill, presented in plain English in a calm, rational and professional manner with technical evidence (the winning formula) that Glen Crayfar could not have been responsible for what the Council were claiming he had done – Dirty dairying. Glen was found not guilty.
This is also an example of a Jury Trial where, the use of a professional McKenzie friend together with a client who is open to taking informed suggestions and trusting my history of 20 odd years of successful litigation in NZ, Australia and the UK paid off as it usually does when litigation trauma is kept under control.
Despite the significant pressure of the Councils experts, Bill Cox successfully presented his expert evidence using his tenacity, honesty, calm approach and knowledgeable rationale.
